Getting a product certified organic has a whole series of steps that they’ll need to follow if they want to make sure they’re in the free in clear.
When you see the words “Organic” or “Certified Organic”, you can be confident the product you’re getting is top quality. But there are some terms that can try to convince you they’re organic when they’re actually not.
Companies LOVE to use tricky wording to convince shoppers their product is the best. “All-Natural”, “Natural Ingredients” and “Free of Harsh Chemicals” are some of the popular phrases that might be used to imply quality without claiming to be organic.
You can have items that are ‘all-natural’ and ‘organic’, you just have to look for the ‘organic’ term over all else. Make sure that you know what you’re buying!

The reason why I’m focusing on spray tans specifically is that they’re so easy to apply! When shopping in-store, it’s easier to see the bottle styling to know it’s a true spray, but when you’re looking at an image of the cover of a box online, it’s easy to get mixed up!
Tanning sprays that come individually bottled can have different ‘spray’ styles – is it a misting aerosol spray that evenly coats or does it have a squirt effect that allows for better control?
