How To Avoid Looking Orange - BronzeBooty.comSunless tanning has become the go-to alternative method for a lot of people to achieve that glowing bronzed skin, especially during the winter months when there is not a lot of direct sunlight, or they simply do not have the time to head to the beach for some natural sunbathing. Also, there have been a lot of health risks associated with extended exposure to the sun’s rays, including skin cancer.

While there are other options for achieving tanned skin, such as tanning beds and salons, or even tanning pills, they have been touted as potentially adverse to one’s health as well. The UV rays of tanning beds can be dangerous in high levels, while the high beta carotene content of tanning pills can cause serious reactions for some users.

With all these factors in mind, the spray tanning trend became the next big thing. Whether professionally applied or done at home, spray tanning offers a quick, convenient, and relatively safe alternative to other sunlight and UV-ray intensive tanning methods. The secret to a great spray tan, however, is how natural and uncontrived it looks.

A successful and well-maintained spray tan will make you look younger and glowing; the wrong spray tan, however, often produces a faint orange skin color that screams fake and forced. The more natural your spray tan looks, the more pleasant it is to look at.

Prep your skin before applying spray tanning products

To avoid the orange spray tan, it is recommended that you exfoliate your skin before the spray tan session. This removes dead skin cells from the surface that can cause streaks or blotches once the tan is applied.

Any shaving or waxing that you normally do must be done no less than a day before the spray tan session; do not moisturize your skin on the day of the spray tan also.

Apply thin coats of tanning product to build color

This is especially important for people who are trying a spray tan for the very first time, and doing it at home with at-home spray tanning products or lotions. Start with a very conservative amount, and do not go crazy with the spray tan applications just because you want to achieve that bronzed look right away. More likely than not, if you apply too much right away then you will end up with the orange look instead.

The same rule applies for tanning booths as well. Going in for a tanning session once every 10 days is usually enough, and you just have to maintain the spray tan with a variety of care procedures in order to make the tan last longer and look great.

Sample color by applying to a small area of skin

If it is the first time you are using a certain spray tanning product, it would help to try it on a small and not easily visible part of your body first just to see the effect. This would give you an idea of what the tan would look like once you apply it to the rest of your body.

Read user reviews before buying tanning products

Don’t just rely on flashy advertisements or slick billboards promoting certain tanning products and procedures. Find out for yourself what other customers and previous users are saying about the products. The Internet is a great place to get a general overview of how effective each tanning product really is.
